(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 9 - "Asylum must be stopped throughout
the European Union," Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer declared
upon his arrival at the European Council in Brussels. "Migrants
are at the top of the agenda," said the Chancellor, adding that
"Austria and the Netherlands fought hard for the summit to take
place. And it is important, we have big problems, the phenomenon
of irregular migration has returned" important. There is a need
for "measures that actually work," and "I want this to be the
goal of today's summit as well," Nehammer emphasized. "Bulgaria,
for example, needs concrete help, money to be able to
effectively implement border protection, supporting it is also
Austria's goal. It is very important." (ANSA).
