(ANSA) - TURIN, MAR 7 - Snow is increasingly rare and expensive, according to Legambiente's Nevediversa 2023 dossier.

Snow is increasingly scarce in the Alps and Apennines, resulting in Italy increasing artificial snowmaking to curb the adverse effects on winter tourism. An "unsustainable and rather expensive practice, also squandering public money," highlights Legambiente, which reports how Italy, according to the latest available estimates, is "among the Alpine countries most dependent on artificial snow with 90% of slopes artificially snowed, followed by Austria (70%), Switzerland (50%), France (39%). The lowest percentage is in Germany, with 25%. (ANSA).
