(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 10 - The Western Balkans saw a
significant decrease in irregular migration crossings in the
first two months of 2023, particularly in February, owing
primarily to Serbia's visa policy aligning with EU requirements,
according to Frontex. Only 8,394 irregular border crossings were
detected at the EU's external borders with the Western Balkans,
a -28% decrease from the same period last year. In February only
the detections amounted to 3,361. Most of the migrants
intercepted were from Syria, Afghanistan and Turkey. (ANSA).
