(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 12 - "The government considers the Balkan region strategically important for several reasons: the fight against irregular migratory flows, investments for Italian companies and long-term cultural cooperation. We need to work to stabilize the area, and for this reason, the presence of our military is crucial, along with the acceleration of the European process." That is what Italy's Foreign Affairs minister Antonio Tajani said during Question time in the Senate.

"The government intends to continue playing a leading role - said the head of the Farnesina -, enhancing Italy's action with a constant and attentive presence: on January 24, a partnership conference will take place in Trieste with the Balkan countries to develop a long-term strategy." (ANSA).
