(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 25 - Transport Minister Matteo Salvini
said Wednesday he had invoked an EU infraction procedure on
Austria for its restrictions on Italian trucks passing through
the Brenner Pass.
"I have written to the EU transport commissioner asking to start
an infraction procedure against Austria, because i cannot damage
Italian businesses and haulage companies because that is unfair
competition," said the minister, who is also infrastructure
minister and deputy premier behind Prime Minister Giorgia
Meloni.
He said that Austria "is impeding the free circulation of men
and vehicles". (ANSA).
