(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 6 - Tunisian President Kais Saied told visiting Premier Giorgia Meloni in Tunis Tuesday that the north African country's government would say no to unacceptable diktats from the International Monetary Fund, with which talks on a much-needed bailout have stalled amid reform disagreements.
"Those who prescribe prefabricated recipes are like a doctor who gives a recipe before diagnosing the disease," said the Tunisian president.
The IMF "diktats", said Saied, "could rather make the situation explode, threatening civilian peace in Tunisia with consequences that might stretch to the whole region." Saied then used the opportunity to raise the issue of cancelling Tunisia's state debts and concerting them into development projects. (ANSA).
