(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 6 - Premier Giorgia Meloni expressed
solidarity on Monday for the people affected by a 7.8-magnitude
earthquake that hit Turkey and northwester Syria overnight,
killing hundreds.
"Constantly updated by Civil Protection Department, Premier
Giorgia Meloni is following the developments regarding the
devastating earthquake that hit Turkey, on the border with
Syria," the Italian government said in a statement.
"She expresses her closeness and solidarity with the affected
peoples".
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that he had spoken
with his Turkish counterpart Mavlut Cavusoglu to express Italy's
support and offer the help of the Italian Civil Protection
Department. (ANSA).
