(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 2 - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday kicked off the 48th Ambrosetti Forum, the traditional end-of-summer conference by Lake Como at Cernobbio bringing together big guns from worlds of politics, economics and finance to discuss global challenges, with the opening address delivered via video link.
"I hope to meet Premier Mario Draghi in Italy," said Zelensky, who had talks with Draghi in Kyiv in June when the outgoing head of government visited Ukraine with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Zelensky thanked Italy "for having supported my nation, for the reception of refugees" following the Russian invasion.
He also announced that "Ukraine is ready to increase exports of electricity to Europe" adding that "for this reason it is important that the Zaporizhzhia (nuclear) plant remains connected to the Ukrainian grid".
Russia took control of the plant in March in the early stages of the invasion.
Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are currently inspecting the facility.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said Thursday that the "physical integrity of the plant" had been "violated several times". (ANSA).
