(ANSA) - Brussels, February 14 - Italy's possible withdrawal
of its contingent from Afghanistan "aligns itself with the
international evaluation discussed with our (NAT) allies today",
Defence Minister Elisabetta Trenta said after a meeting of the
Transatlantic Alliance on Thursday.
"The technical planning (on a possible pullout) started by
Italy, for once, ahead of others, which considers among the
various options a possible withdrawal of the contingent is in
line with the international evaluation discussed with our Allies
today", she said.
Trenta recently announced an Afghan pullout plan taking
Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi by surprise.
