(ANSA) - Strasbourg, February 11 - A diplomatic spat with
France is only a "misunderstanding", Premier Giuseppe Conte said
Monday, voicing the hope that relations will return to normal as
soon as possible.
Conte told Politico.eu that Italy "is not isolated" in Europe
but should not "shrink from expressing its opinions even when
these may be uncomfortable".
French Ambassador Christian Masset will return to Rome "at
the opportune moment", a French foreign ministry spokesperson
said Monday.
"Currently the consultations for which we recalled him (last
week) are in course with our ambassador," it said.
France recalled Masset citing unprecedented attacks and
Deputy Premier Luigi Di Maio's meeting with Yellow Vest members.
