Mattarella reassures Merkel on reforms

(ANSA) - Berlin, January 18 - Visiting President sergio Mattarella on Friday reassured German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Italy's welfare reforms featuring a basic income and a quota 100 pension overhaul.
    Mattarella reassured Merkel that the reforms made financial sense, with the sums contained in the 2019 budget.
    The budget is being monitored by the European Commission, Mattarella added.
    The president noted that he will shortly get the decree introducing the two flagship measures, and will sign it.
