(ANSA) - Rome, October 22 - Italy will keep a permanent
police watch post at Claviere on the French border after French
gendarmerie dropped migrants back there after stopping them at
the border earlier this month, Interior Minister Matteo Salvini
said Monday.
"Pending my meeting with my French counterpart, Italy won't
change its line: fixed police watchpoint at Claviere and blanket
checks on push-backs by Paris in the last few months," Salvini
said after interior ministry officials visited Claviere.
"The mood has changed: we, unlike the (centre-left opposition
party and former government party the Democratic Party) PD,
protect the borders and don't bow our heads".
