(ANSA) - Paris, September 30 - Foreign car makers in Italy
attending the Paris Motor Show on Friday told ANSA that they
estimate the Italian auto market will grow by 18% in 2016 with a
total of 1.8 million units sold.
They were optimistic for 2017 as well, with estimates
projecting a 5% increase, but said growth will remain well below
pre-economic crisis levels.
They said growth is due to a boom in fleet sales as well as
Italians' renewed faith in the auto sector, and will be
augmented in the future by a push towards electrification and
self-driving cars.
