(ANSA) - Rome, August 29 - Senegal on Friday saw its first Ebola case, bringing to five the number of West African countries hit by the outbreak.
The young woman from Guinea was quarantined, health officials said.
The World Health Organization said Thursday West Africa's deadly Ebola outbreak could infect more than 20,000 people before it is brought under control.
WHO said the number of cases could already be four times higher than the 3,000 currently registered.
It urged airlines to resume "vital" flights across the region, saying travel bans were threatening efforts to beat the epidemic.
So far more than 1,500 people in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria have died.
