(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 3 - All religious faiths must guard our common home together, Pope Francis said in a message of greeting on the occasion of the inauguration of the Faith Pavilion in Dubai, as part of the COP28 climate summit on Sunday.
The urgency to act in the face of the "climate drama" that is also a "religious drama" was underlined by the pope, who was prevented for attending the summit - the first climate conference in which the Holy See is an active participant and not just observer with moral suasion - by a bout of acute bronchitis and a fever.
Francis emphasised that faiths are obliged to guard the common home together: "Preserve creation, the little ones and the poor ask us to do so".
From COP28, meanwhile, some 20 countries including the US, France and the United Arab Emirates, jointly called for a tripling of the world's nuclear energy capacity by 2050, compared to 2020, to reduce dependence on coal and gas, the main challenge of this summit. (ANSA).
