(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 25 - The former head of the Swiss Guard, sacked by Pope Francis in 2014 for being too strict, has gone missing in Switzerland.
Daniel Anrig, 50, commander of the world's smallest army for five years, has gone AWOL from his post as municipal secretary at Zermatt.
He was dismissed from that position at the end of October but Anrig was supposed to keep working at the council until the end of December but has instead disappeared with the Swiss media calling it a "mystery".
His house is empty, local sources said.
