Savage men, killers of our brothers says Francis

(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 18 - A perverse abuse of power threatens humanity, Pope Francis said on the Ukraine war in a message for the European Catholic Social Days on Friday.
"One again humanity is threatened by a perverse abuse of power and partial interests, which condemn harmless people to undergo all forms of brutal violence," said Francis.
"The heart-wrenching cry for help from our Ukrainian brothers leads us to weep with them and act for them, to share the anguish of a people that has been wounded in its identity, history and tradition.
"The blood and tears of the children, the suffering of men and women who are defending their land or fleeing the bombs, shake our consciences.
The pope went on to tell an audience at a conference on education that "savagery is killing our brothers".
"We are used to getting news from distant wars: Syria, Yemen.
Inured. Now war has come closer, it is practically in our homes, and that makes us think about the savageness of human nature, the extent of our capacity to kill, assassins of our brothers." (ANSA).
