(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 2 - Pope Francis on Wednesday urged the faithful to pray for a mentally disturbed Irishman who disrupted his weekly general audience by shouting out things in English that were incomprehensible to those who heard him.
The 45-year-old man was already known to Vatican security for similar acts in St Peter's Basilica and that of Santa Maria Maggiore, sources said.
Francis, unruffled by the incident, said "we heard someone shouting, who had some problems, I don't know whether they are physical, psychiatric, or spiritual, but a brother of ours who had some problem.
"I'd like to end (the audience) by praying for him, our brother who is suffering, the poor man. If he shouted it is because he is suffering, he needs something, let's not be deaf to the needs of this brother". (ANSA).
