Violence against women 'cowardice, degradation' - pope

(ANSAmed) - ROME, NOV 25 - Pope Francis said Thursday that "the various forms of ill-treatment that many women suffer are acts of cowardice and a degradation of all humanity" in a tweet posted on Thursday to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
    "Women who are victims of violence must be protected by society", the pontiff wrote on his twitter account, @pontifex.
