(ANSAmed) - ROME, NOV 17 - Pope Francis on Wednesday said protecting and respecting children and teens is an essential duty, speaking on the eve of the first national day of prayer for victims and survivors of abuse promoted by the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI).
"I hope that this initiative can be an occasion of reflection, awareness and prayer to support the paths of human and spiritual recovery of victims", the pontiff said.
"It is an essential duty of those who have some kind of educational responsibility in the family, parish, school, recreational and sport facilities to protect and respect adolescents and kids entrusted to them, because it is in these places that the majority of abuses occur", the pope noted.
