(ANSA) - Vatican City, June 10 - Child labour is slavery,
Pope Francis said Wednesday urging governments to intervene to
stop this "scourge".
He said "it deprives boys and girls of their childhood".
Francis said that "in the present situation of health
emergency, in many countries boys and girls are forced into work
that is not suited to their age, to help their families in
conditions of extreme poverty.
"In many cases it is a form of slavery and detention.
"I appeal to the institutions so that they may make every
effort to protect minors".
