(ANSA) - Rome, December 24 - Christmas is a call to solidarity, Jesuit chief Father Arturo Sosa said Monday.
"Christmas is for all of us a call to solidarity with our brothers and sisters all over the world," said Father Sosa, the Jesuits' Superior General.
"There are many obstacles, but we can live in faith and hope, recalling that the Child of Bethlehem too came into a world of sin, exploitation, and oppression.
"He seemed small and weak but His life was a fount of salvation and His message survived down through the centuries," Sosa said in a video message of Christmas wishes.
    Pope Francis is a Jesuit.
Arturo Marcelino Sosa Abascal SJ, 70, is the thirty-first and present Superior General of the Society of Jesus. He was elected Superior General by the Society's 36th General Congregation on 14 October 2016, succeeding Adolfo Nicolás. As a Venezuelan, he is the first Latin American person to lead the Jesuits.
