No pills or drink at 'dark moments'

'Doesn't help'

(ANSA) - Vatican City, September 27 - Prayer is better than taking pills to sleep or a few drinks when "dark moments" hit us, Pope Francis said Tuesday.
"What should we do when we live dark moments, because of a family tragedy, an illness, something that brings me down?" he asked in a sermon at St Martha's House, the Vatican hostel where he lives.
Some people respond by "taking a pill to sleep" so as to blot out painful events, or "having two, three, four glasses".
This, the pontiff said, "does not help".
"When we feel lost it is better to pray to God with insistence", he said.
