Quake: Pope sends firefighters, gendarme

(ANSA) - Vatican City, August 25 - Pope Francis has sent six Vatican firefighters and six gendarmes to central Italy where a devastating 6.2-scale quake has flattened towns and killed hundreds, Vatican press officer Greg Burke said Thursday.
    They are working with their Italian counterparts in search and rescue efforts and protecting property from looters.
