(ANSA) - Genoa, April 29 - Walls and closed borders are not
the way to deal with humanitarian problems, the leader of the
Italian Bishops Conference (CEI) said Friday.
The comments by Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the archbishop of
the northwestern city of Genoa, came after Austria said it may
erect a barrier at the Brenner Pass on the border it shares with
Italy to keep asylum seekers out.
"This situation of universal migration must be taken more
seriously on the international level - that is by the UN and not
just by Europe or Italy, which is doing its best," said
