(ANSA) - Nairobi, November 26 - Pope Francis on Thursday visited the United Nations headquarters in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, where he planted a tree and was set to deliver a speech.
The UNON HQ houses offices of two programmes, UNEP for the environment and UN-Habitat for human settlements.
The pope was met by UNON Director-General Sahle-Work Zewde, and the heads of UNEP and UN-Habitat, Achim Steiner e Joan Clos.
Francis planted a tree in the UNON grounds to symbolise growth and was set to deliver his speech.
Before going to UNON the pope met clerics, religious and seminarians at Mary's School where he made an impromptu speech on vocations, the religious life, and the suffering of children.
He urged seminarians who find themselves on the wrong path to get married and start families.
