'Fear' of Jubilee criminal infiltration

'There is a lack of ethics', Msgr Feroci says

(ANSA) - Rome, March 19 - There is a "fear" of infiltration by criminal groups in preparations for the upcoming extraordinary Holy Year, director of the Rome branch of the Catholic relief agency Caritas Monsignor Enrico Feroci said Thursday.
"We can see that there is a lack of ethics, each time a space opens up someone tries to infiltrate it," Monsignor Feroci said, probably in reference to a rash of corruption scandals involving public works and services contracts up and down the country, including in the capital.
"In Rome people have even speculated on the poor, in the manner of true profiteers," he added. However, there is "also another Rome, that of solidarity" the Caritas director said.
Pope Francis has called a special Jubilee dedicated to mercy starting December 8 to highlight a central spiritual theme in his papacy. However its announcement last week was accompanied by concerns over preparations as Rome gears up to receiving millions of pilgrims for the occasion. http://popefrancisnewsapp.com/
