(ANSA) - Vatican City, January 31 - Pope Francis sent a
telegram congratulating new Italian President Sergio Mattarella
after his election on Saturday. The pope said he hoped
Mattarella would be able to work for Italian "unity" and
"concord" and wished him "divine assistance" to promote the
human and spiritual values of the Italian people.
