Alarm at report Vatican could be next terror target

Italian intelligence says no evidence attacks coming

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Rome, January 12 - Media reports that American intelligence services have warned the Vatican that it could be the next target for Islamist terrorists after last week's attacks in France have prompted alarm in Rome.
Israeli State television broke the news of the reported warning on Sunday, as international leaders joined around two million people taking part in a massive anti-terrorism rally in Paris, without providing details of the nature of the threat.
According to Italian intelligence services, however, while the Vatican is a possible target of terror groups, including cells linked to ISIS, there are "no concrete signals" that attacks are about to be launched.
