(ANSA) - Vatican City, April 22 - Pope Francis may try to bring peace to conflict zones "with his presence, even in an impromptu way," Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin says in a new book. Francis could intervene "whenever peace is threatened," the cardinal says in 'The Popes of Peace' by ANSA journalists Nina Fabrizio and Fausto Gasparroni. The pope "has the great ability to surprise us all, as he showed right from his first appearance on the balcony of St Peter's (on March 13, 2013)," Parolin says in the book published Thursday by Rizzoli Editori.
"I think he will demonstrate that also in his work for peace," said the cardinal, who replaced old-guard stalwart Tarcisio Bertone on January 15.
"Indeed, we have already had proof of that on the day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East and the whole world, on September 7, 2013".
