F1: Leclerc hails upgrades after 2nd place in Austria

Ferrari driver says happy about making the podium

(see related) (ANSA) - ROME, JUL 2 - Charles Leclerc expressed optimism that Ferrari''s prospects were on the up after finishing second at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, saying the changes the Italian team has made to the race car had improved performance.
    "We made the most of what we have on Friday (in practice) and today," said Leclerc who came second to Formula One world champion and standings leader Max Verstappen.
    "I'm happy about making the podium.
    "The upgrades to the car make me feel more at ease.
    "The team did an exceptional job to bring forward the upgrades.
    "Naturally, we still have work to do but I'm happy about the podium".
    The 25-year-old said he is already setting his sights on the next race, the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
    "Silverstone and Austria are two tracks that can give us good results," he said.
    "Let's hope we can take advantage of the upgrades to the car and we'll be sure to have fun".
    The other Ferrari driven by Carlos Sainz's came fourth.
    Verstappen's Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez came third to complete the podium.
    Leclerc is sixth in the drivers' standings with 72 points, two behind Sainz in fifth.
    Verstappen leads with 229 points.
    Ferrari are fourth in the constructors' standings with 158 points, while leaders Red Bull have 377. (ANSA).
