Giro: Roglic grabs final victory from Thomas

Slovenian wins final mountain time trial, will be crowned in Rome

(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 27 - Slovenia's Primoz Roglic grabbed final victory in the Giro d'Italia from Britain's Geraint Thomas on the second-last stage, an epic mountaintop time trial in the Dolomites, on Saturday.
    Unless he falls off his bike in the last stage, a round the forum procession in Rome Sunday, the 33-year-old Slovenian will stay 14 seconds ahead of the 37-year-old Welshman and take his first Giro after three Vuelta wins.
    The Monte Lussari time trial was the final climb on the route of the 2023 Giro.
    It was an incredibly difficult climb which featured a 4.7-kilometer section at 15%, within a 7.3-kilometer final climb.
    Roglic and Thomas were neck and neck for most of the way in nailbiting viewing for Giro fans. (ANSA).
