Soccer: Conte parts company with Spurs

Italian coach departs after blasting culture of London club

(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 27 - Italian coach Antonio Conte has parted company with Tottenham Hotspur by mutual agreement, the London club has said.
The departure was widely expected after Conte publicly blasted his players and the club's culture when Spurs surrendered a 3-1 lead in a 3-3 draw at Southampton earlier this month.
Tottenham said Conte's assistant Christian Stellini would remain in charge of the side until the end of the season.
"We have 10 Premier League games remaining and we have a fight on our hands for a Champions League place," said Chairman Daniel Levy.
"We all need to pull together. Everyone has to step up to ensure the highest possible finish for our Club and amazing, loyal supporters." Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League, which is good for English football's last-qualification spot in the Champions League, but they are just two points ahead of fifth-placed Newcastle United, who have two games in hand.
Former Italy boss Conte had been in charge of Tottenham since November 2021.
He won domestic league titles at his former clubs Juventus, Chelsea and Inter. (ANSA).
