Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 12 - Some 12 people were cited Thursday for aiming slurs and abuse on the Internet against Italian synchronised swimming champion Linda Cerruti.
The twelve have been cited for defamation via the Internet for "blatantly defamatory and sexist" posts on a photo Cerruti posted on social media showing her in a swimming costume, in a classic splayed-leg synchro pose, wearing the eight medals she won at last year's European championships.
Cerruti, 29, from Savona near Genoa, is one of Italy's most successful synchronised swimmers.
She won six silvers and two bronzes at the 2022 European championships in London.
Cerruti reported the allegedly offensive comments to the police in her native Savona. (ANSA).
