Soccer: Ferrero to be new president of turmoil-hit Juventus

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 29 - Exor said Tuesday that it has chosen Gianluca Ferrero, a highly respected manager, accountant and auditor, to be the new president of Serie A giants Juventus after Andrea Agnelli resigned as chairman on Monday along with the rest of the board of directors.
    The Turin giants said Agnelli, vice president Pavel Nedved and the other directors had resigned over "pending legal and technical/accounting matters".
    CEO Maurizio Arrivabene also resigned but was asked to stay on until a new board could be appointed.
    Prosecutors in the northern Italian city are investigating allegations that the club presented false information to investors about its accounts in recent years.
    The accounts of the club, a listed company, have also come under the scrutiny of Italian stock-market regulator Consob.
    "As a corporate adviser, auditor, board and committee member of a number of companies, Mr. Ferrero has significant experience and the required technical competencies, as well as a genuine passion for the bianconero club, making him the person most qualified to fulfil this role," said Exor, the Agnelli family holding company that controls Juve.
    Exor said it will publish the full list of its candidates for the new board of Juventus before a shareholders' meeting on 18 January.
    Andrea Agnelli steered Juventus to a period of enormous success after taking the helm of the club in 2010, including a run of nine consecutive Serie A titles.
    He was also one of the ringleaders of the failed attempt to form a European Super League last year. (ANSA).
