(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 17 - Relegation-threatened Sampdoria on
Monday sacked manager Roberto D'Aversa after a run of three
straight losses including Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Torino
that left the Genoa side sixth from the bottom of Serie A, two
points above the drop zone.
In a statement, Samp thanked the 46-year-old Stuttgart-born
former Parma coach for his "seriousness and professionalism".
La Gazzetta dello Sport said Marco Giampaolo, who coached
Sampdoria from 2016 to 2019, would return to the Genoese bench
once he is formally released from his contract with Torino,
which sacked him last year. (ANSA).
