(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 30 - Olympic 100m champ Marcel Jacobs has
been named sprinter of the year by the prestigious US
Track&Field magazine.
"Since the time of Bolt in 2008 he is the first sprinter to win
top spot without ever appearing in the rankings before," it
said.
US media had hinted at doping perhaps being behind Jacobs'
unexpected mid-career time surge that clinched the gold at Tokyo
2020.
Track&Field has been the Bible of US athletics since 1948.
