(ANSA) - Rome, February 11 - Former champion long-distance
runner Maura Viceconte committed suicide on Sunday.
Viceconte, who competed in the Sydney Olympics and is still
Italian 10,000 metres record holder, hanged herself in her home
at Susa north of Turin in Piedmont.
Viceconte represented Italy between the 1990s and the early
200s and also won marathons at Venice, Monte Carlo, Carpi, Rome,
Vienna (when she set a then Italian record of 2h23:47), Prague
and Naples
