FIGC changes rules on suspending matches due to monkey chants

(ANSA) - Rome, January 30 - The Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) on Wednesday changed the ruled on suspending matches for racist chants cutting from three to two the steps involved.
After the first racist incident teams will gather in the centre circles and after the second one they will return to their changing rooms, the FIGC's federal council ruled.
The competent authority for suspending matches "will always be the person responsible for public order", it said.
The FIGC has been spurred to act after recent episodes including chants from Inter fans at Napoli's Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly at San Siro on Boxing Day.
