(ANSA) - Buenos Aires, October 10 - The International Olympic
Committee (IOC) on Tuesday approved the bids of Milan-Cortina,
Calgary and Stockholm to host the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The reports on the three bids was put to the assembly by Vice
President Juan Antonio Samaranch, who stressed that "we have
before us three solid bids, in cities which have efficient
facilities, and great experience of organising international
events".
The IOC report included polls showing 49% of Stockholm
residents in favour of the bid, 54% for Calgary and 83% for
Milan-Cortina.
Calgary is set to have a referendum on the bid and could drop
out.
