No blackmail after No to Olympic bid (2)

(ANSA) - Rome, September 27 - No one should think they can commit "political and economic blackmail" and deprive Rome of promised funds because it said No to the 2024 Olympics, Mayor Virginia Raggi told the Senate sports committee Tuesday. "Rome is in any case the capital city of Italy, with or without the Games," she said. Raggi sank the Olympic bid earlier this month citing fears of building speculators and of ramping up Rome's huge debt.
