Germany learned lesson from 2012 defeat

    (ANSA) - Evian, June 28 - Germany's 2-1 defeat to Italy in the Euro 2012 semi-final served as "an excellent lesson" for Joachim Loew, the world champions' coach said ahead of Saturday's Euro 2016 quarter-final.
    "The defeat against Italy four years ago was very useful for this group. We realised our mistakes and the pain of that KO helped me grow: it was an excellent lesson," he said. Loew said he was "not afraid" to face Italy again because he knew his men would not make the same mistakes.
