(ANSA) - Rome, April 4 - Lazio sacked coach Stefano Pioli
after their poor form continued with Sunday's 4-1 rout at the
hands of city rivals AS Roma.
Former Lazio striker Simone Inzaghi, the coach of the
Rome club's academy side, has been put in charge for the rest of
the season.
Juventus, who are chasing a fifth consecutive Serie A
title this season, stretched their lead at the top of the table
to six points thanks to a 1-0 win over Empoli.
Second-placed Napoli lost 3-1 at Udinese and risk being
without top-scorer Gonzalo Higuain, who laid his hands on the
referee's chest after being send off for a second yellow card,
for several matches.
Third-placed Roma are now just four points behind Napoli
with seven games to go.
Fourth-placed Fiorentina were held 1-1 by Sampdoria,
fifth-placed Inter lost 2-1 to Torino and sixth-placed AC Milan
went down by the same margin to Atalanta.
