(ANSA) - Milan, June 19 - Inter Milan have reached a deal to sign Brazil defender Miranda from Atletico Madrid, ANSA sources said Friday.
The 30-year-old centre-back is set to move on loan for two seasons, although the Serie A side will be obliged to make the transfer permanent at this end of this period, in a deal worth around 12 million euros. Miranda will undergo a medical in Chile, where he is taking part in the Copa America with Brazil, before Inter made the move official, the sources said. Inter have also signed another central defender, Colombian Jeison Murillo, from Spanish side Granada. The three-time European champions announced Friday that former midfielder Dejan Stankovic is their new team manager.
"I am honoured to be coming back to Inter," said the 36-year-old, who was assistant coach at Udinese last season.
"I am thrilled and excited because I've always said these colours will remain on my skin forever," added the Serb, who won five Serie A titles, four Italian Cups, the Champions League and the Club World Cup during his 2004-2013 stint at Inter. "I cried the day I realised I wouldn't be pulling on the Nerazzurri shirt anymore. "I'm back here now, with a sense of pride and determination, to do my best for the club in a different role".
