(ANSA) - Rome, October 28 - Italy boss Antonio Conte is in the running for the FIFA coach of the year of the award after being named on a 10-man shortlist published on Tuesday.
Conte quit as Juventus boss in July after leading them to a third consecutive Serie A title and setting a new record points tally of 102 in the Italian top flight.
The Azzurri have won all of their games - three Euro 2016 qualifiers and a friendly against the Netherlands - since Conte stepped in after Cesare Prandelli resigned following their disappointing World Cup campaign.
Another Italian is on the list - Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of European champions Real Madrid.
The other candidates are: Pep Guardiola (Spain/Bayern Munich), Juergen Klinsmann (Germany/USA national team), Joachim Loew (Germany/Germany national team), Jose Mourinho (Portugal/Chelsea), Manuel Pellegrini (Chile/Manchester City), Alejandro Sabella (Argentina/Argentina national team), Diego Simeone (Argentina/Atletico Madrid), Louis van Gaal (Netherlands/Netherlands national team/Manchester United). There are no Italians on the 23-man shortlist for the FIFA Ballon d'Or player of the year award.
