ANSA) - Turin, October 24 - France midfielder Paul Pogba has renewed his contract with Italian champions Juventus for a further three years until 2019, CEO Beppe Marotta told a shareholders' meeting Friday.
The France international has blossomed into one of the highest-rated central midfielders in Europe since he left Manchester United for Turin two years ago.
His performances under Antonio Conte - and now Massimiliano Allegri - had reportedly caught the eye of the likes of PSG and Real Madrid in the past, but Juve have moved to tie down the 21-year-old for a further three years.
Marotta told shareholders at Friday's meeting: "This morning we agreed the renewal of Paul Pogba, who will be tied to Juventus until 2019." Prior to the confirmation, Pogba's agent Mino Raiola had revealed that the Frenchman was on the brink of putting pen to paper on a deal after agreeing to stay with the scudetto holders.
"Yes, we met with Giuseppe Marotta and together we decided to renew Paul's deal," Raiola told Tuttosport.
"Now is the time to get it done, we're delighted that this situation has presented itself." Pogba's previous contract was set to run out in June 2016, when Pogba will be poised to star for France in Euro 2016 in his homeland.
Juve have won the last three Serie A titles and are leading the league, one point above AS Roma.
