Gallinari becomes Milan Expo ambassador

All Star member Meneghin also signs up for World Fair

(ANSA) - Milan, October 1 - Milan Expo 2015 on Wednesday signed up two of basketball's big names, Danilo Gallinari and Dino Meneghin, as ambassadors for next year's World Fair.
    Gallinari, 26, is a forward with NBA side the Denver Nuggets and the Italian national team, while Meneghin is a great of the past.
    The 64-year-old became only the second Italian to be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003 after coach Cesare Rubini was admitted in 1994.
    Meneghin led the teams he played for to a remarkable 12 Italian championship titles (seven with Varese, five with Milano), seven European Cups (five with Varese, two with Milano) and four Intercontinental Cups.
    Meneghin also set records for most games played with the national team - 271 - and points scored - 2,947 - on the way to leading the Azzurri to gold in the 1983 European Championships and silver in the 1980 Olympic Games.
    He was also head of the Italian Basketball Federation between 2008 and 2013.
    Gallinari and Meneghin were signed up as Expo ambassadors as part of a wide agreement between the event and the Italian basketball league for reciprocal sponsorship and ticket-sales.
