Four Roma fans probed Napoli fan murder

Romans suspected of complicity with accused killer De Santis

(ANSA) - Rome, August 1 - Four more AS Roma fans were placed under investigation Friday on suspicion of aiding and abetting the shooting murder of Napoli fan Ciro Esposito outside the Olympic Stadium.
The four, members of the hardline 'Ultrà' group of hooligans who frequently battle rival club supporters in the stands, are suspected of being accomplices of Roma fan Daniele De Santis, 48, who has been charged with the slaying before May's Italian cup final in the capital in which Napoli beat Fiorentina 3-1.
Esposito, 28, died in a Rome hospital on June 25 after 50 days of intensive care and surgery.
De Santis allegedly launched the attack, one of the worst outbreaks of soccer violence in Italy ever, by firing flares and fireworks at a bus full of Napoli fans en route to see their side defeat Fiorentina.
De Santis' accomplices fled the scene as soon as the Napoli ultras counter-attacked, leaving him to fend for himself, at which point he opened fire, prosecutors say.
