(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 11 - Italy is 16th in Europe for health
spending, the GIMBE health foundation said in a survey of the
Italian health system Tuesday.
Fully 15 of Italy's European neighbours and near-neighbours
spend more on the national health service, it said.
Health spending is up in Italy, however, the foundation said.
Italy spent some 11.2 billion euros more on public health over
the last three years, it said.
Much of the extra spending, however, was gobbled up by the
COVID-19 pandemic, said the foundation.
In another more recent coronavirus finding, GIMBE said the
number of daily cases had almost tripled since September amid a
fresh COVID surge. (ANSA).
