(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 14 - The highly infectious Omicron strain of the coronavirus accounted for 81% of COVID-19 cases detected in Italy on January 3, the Higher Health Institute (ISS) said Friday.
The older Delta variant accounted for 19%, the ISS said.
Omicron prevalence varied between 33% and 100% according to the Italian region examined, it said. (ANSA).
